Beach loungers

The more padding on beach/pool lounge chairs, the better the beach, resort or hotel.

There is a direct correlation between the quality of a beach/resort/hotel and the amount of padding on the lounge chairs at the beach/resort/hotel. The thicker the padding, the better the beach, resort or hotel.

Peter and I learned this whilst vacationing in Greece and Croatia. On beaches in these two countries, lounge chairs can be reserved for a fee ranging anywhere from 2-20 euros per day. The more padding on the lounge chair, the higher the fee. Additionally, padded lounge chairs are typically found on nicer sections of beaches than non-padded lounge chairs and, in our experience, the same holds true for resorts and hotels – the thicker the padding, the better the resort or hotel.

So next time you set off researching a beach or poolside vacation and find yourself at a standstill deciding between two or three resorts or hotels, do yourself a favor and skim through guest photos of the beach and/or pool and take a long, hard look at those damn lounge chairs because they just might hold the answer to all your questions.
