VIN etching

VIN etching occurs in a lot of countries.

In some countries (i.e. Jordan, Kenya, Argentina) I’ve noticed that the VIN of the car is etched into its windows. Today I finally took the time to research the purpose of VIN etching and basically what it boils down to is that it is a way to deter theft of vehicles. Most auto parts buyers will not purchase auto parts etched with VINs, so why steal a car when you can’t strip it and sell it for its parts? Precisely.
